A ride from the Oregon coast across Oregon, across Idaho, into Montana, a day in Glacier National Park, short jaunt into Canada, across Washington through Mount Rainier National Park, and home. Seven days and 2101 miles on a 2017 BMW R1200RT. I picked up the Bike from European Motorcycles of Western Oregon, located in Tigard, Oregon at the beginning of June. I rode it for two days and then returned it for the run-in service and to have some accessories installed (engine guards and additional LED lights). A big thanks to Brian Platt, the sales advisor there for some great advice on selecting the added accessories. Their service department did a great job with the installation. I made an over night trip of 550 miles looping around the Olympic National Park in Washington to get a feel for traveling with the bike fully loaded. This ride was to be my first big outing with the new bike. I took some minimal camping gear (small tent, sleeping bag, pad) so that if I wanted to stop in an area with no motel I would have the option of a campground. I never did camp and never needed rain gear so could have traveled lighter. I used 45.7 gallons of fuel and overall mileage of 46 MPG.
